Florida State Flag

Hi Folks Patrick Page here with Flag-Works….

Florida’s original state flag, in 1845, was only used once because it created a political commotion.  The next Florida state flag, in 1861, was designed because Florida  was preparing to secede from the Union and could no longer use the Union flag.  The Florida state flag had three large stars on it, representing Florida, Mississippi and South Carolina, the three states that had seceded.  Another Florida state flag was adopted soon after secession.  But after the Civil War, a new Florida state flag was designed.  It depicts the Florida state seal in the center of a white field.  On the seal are symbols of Florida – the sun, a palm tree, a steamboat, and a Native American woman scattering flowers.  The red cross of St. Andrew was added in 1900.  Since then, the original cocoa tree became a cabbage palmetto.  And the Native American’s dress was altered to show more accurately that she is of the Seminoles, a Native American tribe that has long lived in Florida.  Florida State Flag Adopted:  1900

Washington State Flag

washington flag

The flag of the State of Washington consists of the state seal (which bears an image of George Washington) on a field of dark green. It is the only U.S. state flag with a field of green as well as the only state flag with the image of an American president.

In honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732. Colloquially, it is widely known as Presidents Day and is often an occasion to remember all the presidents, not just George Washington or Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is also in February. The term”Presidents Day” was coined in a deliberate attempt to change the holiday into one honoring multiple presidents.

New Mexico Flag

NM

New Mexico was not officially recorded until the arrival of the Conquistadors, who encountered Native American Pueblos when they explored the area in the 16th century. Since that time, the area has been under the control of Spain, Mexico, and the United States, which took over in 1848. The long territorial period lasted until 1912. New Mexico became the 47th state in the US on 01/06/1912. During World War II, New Mexico was the site of the top-secret Manhattan Project, in which top U.S. scientists raced to create the first atomic bomb, which was tested at the Trinity Bomb site, near Alamagordo, on July 16, 1945.

An archaeologist, Dr. Harry Mera, designed this flag, which was adopted with urging by the Daughters of the American Revolution.  The colors of red and yellow recall the Spanish rule in the 17th century.  The symbol is that of the ancient Zia people, part of the Pueblo tribe located on the north bank of the James River.  It represents the belief of the Zias that the Giver of All Good Gifts gave in groups of four – four directions, four seasons, four times of the day and four states of life.  All these are connected by a circle of life and love, which is without beginning or end.

Massachusetts State Flag

Massachusetts State Flag   MA
The 6th state, admitted 1788
Massachusetts MA state flag first had a flag that had a different design on each side.   In 1971, the Massachusetts state flag was changed and only depicts the original front design.  It is a of a Native American on a blue shield.  He is holding a bow in one hand and an arrow in the other, pointed down to symbolize peace.  A crest above the shield shows an arm bent at the elbow, hand holding a sword.  This illustrates the Massachusetts state motto, “By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty.”  Massachusetts State Flag Adopted:  1971

November 2, 1889

North Dakota the 39th state and South Dakota the 40th state became part of the Union on November 2, 1889. Because both wanted to be the first state admitted, President Benjamin Harrison shuffled both statehood papers and signed then without knowing which one was first. However, because North Dakota is alphabetically before South Dakota, its proclamation was published first.

Information about the American Flag

Nylon is the flag fabric of choice for outdoor American flags. If you’ve seen an American flag flying around your neighborhood it’s most likely a nylon American flag. Nylon is lightweight to fly in the slightest winds and treated with Solar-Max™ for bright, long lasting color. We use a top quality 200 denier nylon. Our nylon American flags feature full filled embroidered stars and beautifully sewn stripes to display a strong sense of American pride.

Woven Polyester American Flag Fabric – Rugged strength for even the strongest winds! This 100% spun polyester American flag has a 2×2 construction that is intended for use in extreme weather conditions. Simply put, our heavy duty woven polyester American flags are recommended in high wind areas. This tough fabric will withstand rougher weather than the average flag, however it is heavier so it takes more wind to fly. Our polyester American flags feature full filled embroidered stars and beautifully sewn stripes to display a strong sense of pride, as does our nylon American flag.

Cotton American Flag Fabric – For a more “classic look” try our cotton American flag. Though not as fade resistant as the others, this flag has an appeal of it’s own. Our cotton American flags also, feature full filled embroidered stars and beautifully sewn stripes to display a strong sense of American pride.

All of our American flags meet or exceed government specifications and are made in the United States of America.
