Georgia
GA is another state that chose to commemorate the Confederacy on its flag.
John Sammons Bell, chairman of the Democratic party during the time, designed the
Georgia state flag. On the vertical strip close to the flagpole, the
Georgia state seal
appears in black and white. It shows three pillars that stand for the three branches
of government, wrapped in ribbons that express the ideas of the Constitution - wisdom,
justice, and moderation. The pillars support an arch that bears the word,
"Constitution." The remaining two-thirds of the Georgia state flag prominently presents
a replica of the Confederate Battle Flag. Georgia State

Georgia
State Flag New
The 4th state, admitted 1776
Georgia's flag, which became officially effective
in
January, 2001, has two main parts. The top part is Georgia's state seal. The
seal contains principles of wisdom, justice, and moderation. The Georgia
state flags seal's blue
background symbolizes loyalty, justice, sincerity, and reverence to God. The second
significant part of the new flag is the pictures of previous Georgia flags including the
flag from 1956 to 2001. This way, they could still retain a small image of the
confederate battle flag which so many see as part of Georgia's history.
